Bridge Linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour Reaches 65% Completion

Dubai’s transport infrastructure continues to advance, with a key new bridge providing direct access between and reaching 65% completion. The project, led by the RTA in collaboration with, is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026.

Once operational, the 1.5-kilometre bridge is expected to significantly improve access to Dubai Harbour, easing congestion and reducing travel time for residents, visitors, and yacht owners.

Strategic Location Serving a Major Waterfront Hub

Dubai Harbour is home to the largest yacht marina in the Middle East and sits between and, close to some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, including .

The bridge will provide a direct and seamless connection to this rapidly developing waterfront district, which is also undergoing a major residential expansion featuring 24 towers and approximately 7,500 apartments.

Route Alignment and Traffic Capacity

According to RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer, the bridge extends from Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road near the American University in Dubai. It passes through the junction of Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street, crosses King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, and connects directly to Dubai Harbour Street.

The bridge will feature:

• Two lanes in each direction
• Capacity of approximately 6,000 vehicles per hour
• Dedicated design to support peak traffic volumes

Once completed, travel time to Dubai Harbour is expected to drop from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes.

Supporting Works and Utility Upgrades

In addition to the main bridge construction, the project includes extensive upgrades to four major intersections along the corridor. RTA confirmed that around 90% of utility service improvement works intersecting with the project have already been completed.

Temporary traffic diversions remain in place to maintain smooth vehicle flow during construction, with RTA closely monitoring congestion and safety.

Public–Private Collaboration Driving Urban Growth

Mattar Al Tayer noted that the project reflects Dubai’s broader strategy of aligning transport infrastructure with urban development, particularly along key waterfront zones.

Abdulla Binhabtoor, CEO of Shamal Holding, highlighted that the bridge aligns with the company’s long-term investment vision, supporting the growth of Dubai Harbour as a globally competitive lifestyle and maritime destination.

Why the Bridge Matters for Dubai Harbour

The new bridge is more than a transport upgrade—it is a catalyst for the next phase of Dubai Harbour’s development. Improved connectivity is expected to:

• Enhance residential and investor appeal
• Support marina, tourism, and hospitality activity
• Increase property accessibility and long-term value
• Reduce congestion along surrounding road networks

Outlook

With construction now 65% complete and handover targeted for Q3 2026, the Sheikh Zayed Road–Dubai Harbour bridge is set to become a critical piece of Dubai’s coastal infrastructure. As surrounding residential and marina developments progress, the bridge will play a central role in shaping mobility, lifestyle convenience, and investment confidence in one of the city’s most prominent waterfront districts.
